Korea’s first blockchain charity ‘CHERRY’ prepares for COVID-19 with ‘Church Integration App'

Updated: Feb 22, 2023

From online offerings to QR check-ins, all at once in our church app!

CHERRY, Korea’s first blockchain charity platform, takes the lead in preparing for post-coronavirus with ‘Church Integration App’

  • The spread of non-face-to-face worship due to COVID-19, online donations along with QR code check-in are also attracting attention

  • Provides free QR code check-in service to all churches that are burdened by the mandatory church electronic access list

  • Integrated management of all services necessary for the church, such as online offerings, online worship, online district meetings, and bulletins, in one app

Korea’s first blockchain-based charity platform ‘CHERRY Hope Sharing Platform’ (hereafter referred to as CHERRY) announced on the 30th that it will take the lead in preparing for the post-COVID-19 era by strengthening the church integrated app function.

CHERRY's church integration app is a service that provides all activities necessary for church operation, such as offerings, worship services, small groups, weekly bulletins, education applications, and announcements, online and non-face-to-face. In addition, by providing an electronic access list system through QR code for free, it has a function to keep both the church and members safe when a meeting is unavoidable.

After completing the registration process for the CHERRY Church integrated app, a page unique to our church is created that only registered members can access. Churches can open donation and collection boxes for each purpose, and church members can conveniently donate by using various payment methods such as account transfer, credit card payment, and Naver Pay. In addition, through the app, various programs such as worship services, small groups, and education can be held non-face-to-face, and information such as weekly bulletins and announcements can be delivered.

It is also noteworthy that the QR code check-in service is provided free of charge to all churches, which are experiencing increased burdens due to the mandatory electronic access list for churches. Unlike the existing general QR code check-in service, it was developed with a focus on churches, and the information of church members is not stored in an external server, dramatically reducing the risk of information leakage. Furthermore, the data accumulated in the future can be used as pastoral data. In addition, each church member can check in simply by scanning the QR code attached to the church with a camera without the hassle of issuing a QR code, so there is no waiting time.

Church administrators can directly check donations and QR code check-in details through the website. Members' names and donation details can be downloaded as an Excel file, so it is convenient because there is no need for a separate donation count. In addition, you can check the check-in details for each service and meeting in real time.

Lee Sujeong (deacon of Chungshin Church), CEO of E4Net, an IT company operating CHERRY, said, "In the post-COVID-19 era, we launched an integrated CHERRY Church app to help with the difficulties of church operation." I am grateful to be able to provide an integrated platform free of charge to churches that have many things to prepare.”

Meanwhile, CHERRY, which launched the service last November, was awarded the 2019 Minister of Science and Technology Information and Communication Award in recognition of its contribution to vitalizing the blockchain-fintech industry. Currently, about 30 public interest organizations are actively conducting fundraising campaigns, and many churches, including Chungshin Church and Geumran Church, are using the integrated church app function.
