Lee Soo-jung, CEO of Cherry, wins an award at the 2024 Women Inventors Expo.
Cherry won three awards in recognition of its achievements in inventing the blockchain-based donation platform "Cherry" at the 2024 World Women's Invention Competition.
According to Cherry, at the 2024 Women Inventors Expo held from June 20 to 22 at Ilsan KINTEX, Cherry received significant positive feedback from many participants for showcasing 'Cherry Photo,' which enables automatic donations through photo-taking, and the 'Cherry Donation Kiosk,' which allows for easy and convenient participation in donations.
They held export consultations with Vietnam and China. Many foreign participants showed interest and joined the demonstrations, confirming the potential for international expansion.
At the awards ceremony held on the 22nd, Cherry won the gold medal for 'Personal Card Management System and Method Using Reverse Automatic Synchronization,' and received the silver and bronze medals for 'Active Blockchain Micro-Tracking System and Method by Automatic Allocation of Donations' and 'Blockchain Donation System with Separate Kiosk Payment Method,' respectively.
Cherry, launched in 2019, is Korea's first blockchain-based donation platform and has been listed as a case of use in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) blockchain and distributed ledger sectors, and has registered eight related patents.
Currently, more than 400 donation organizations are actively using it. It has raised 14.8 billion won through various participatory donation campaigns, including "Cherry Work," which automatically makes donations when people check attendance every day, and "Cherry Snickers Day," where members of organizations and companies walk together to make donations.
Cherry CEO Lee Soo-jung expressed joy at receiving a meaningful award at the World Women Inventors Expo, stating, "I am delighted. I will strive even harder to spread and advance the culture of donation globally, beyond South Korea."
