CHERRY Charity Platform announced on March 30 that it held a "Miracle Walking Challenge" with YouTube creator Park We, and that more than 1,000 participants and Korea Rental Co., Ltd. donated 20 million won in funds together.
Park We is a popular creator who runs the YouTube channel WERACLE and is working as an ambassador for CHERRY along with actress Shin Ae-ra.
The challenge was held on March 25 at Ichon Hangang Park and Seoul Ham Park. Participants gathered through the blockchain charity platform CHERRY participated in the donation by walking one of the 3, 5, 8, and 11km sections, which are actually Parkwe's rehabilitation courses, online and offline.
After being diagnosed with a general paralysis in an accident at the age of 28, Park We actively communicated with the public through YouTube about the difficult rehabilitation process. It is also taking the lead in improving disability awareness and conveying hope with an honest and positive mind.
Through the CHERRY App, the amount collected 1 won per step and 10 million won was sponsored by Korea Rental Co., Ltd. A total of 20 million won was raised, including donations collected from more than 1,000 participants. The fund will be fully used to support children affected by the war in Ukraine through the Korean Committee of UNICEF.
Park We said, "I was thinking about how I could help Ukrainian children who were severely damaged by the endless war, and I planned a walking challenge with CHERRY. I wanted to understand the meaning of walking with citizens while walking 11km, where I was diagnosed with general paralysis and rode a wheelchair every day for rehabilitation treatment. Although invisible, I walked with the idea that it was helpful to many children far away. I believe our little hearts will be of great help to Ukrainian children."
Lee Sujeong, CEO of CHERRY Charity Platform, said, "I am happy that four organizations, CHERRY, Weracle, UNICEF, and Korea Rental, work together to deliver good influence." In addition, he said, "I would like to thank Korea Rental for adding funds to this challenge."
CHERRY is the first blockchain charity platform in Korea and transparently discloses the entire process of donation flow from fundraising to use through blockchain. It is used by 330 donation organizations, including the Community Chest of Korea, UNICEF Korea Committee, and the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, and is raising more than 7.9 billion won in donations. In addition, various donation campaigns can be opened for executives and employees, such as walking donation campaigns and donation dance challenges, which are well received as ESG practice cases by many companies and are evaluated as the most popular blockchain service.
