Cherry Corporation, the operator of the blockchain-based donation platform Cherry, announced on the 20th that it received the Excellence Award in the Outstanding Startup category at the 8th Daegu Startup Awards, organized by Daegu Metropolitan City and the Daegu Center for Creative Economy & Innovation.
The Daegu Startup Awards aim to foster the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem by recognizing outstanding startups and contributors to startup support within the region. Cherry was honored with the award for its innovative donation system, which prioritizes transparency and accessibility, and its contributions to the local economy and social impact.
Cherry is South Korea's first blockchain-based donation platform, offering full transparency in the entire donation process—from fundraising to usage—thereby building trust. The company is also reshaping the culture of giving through its innovative services, such as the Cherry Donation Kiosk and Cherry Photo.
The Cherry Donation Kiosk allows users to make donations with just a few taps, significantly enhancing accessibility by being installed in public spaces and at events.
Cherry Photo enables users to donate automatically simply by taking a photo, allowing people to naturally participate in giving through their daily lives. This service has already expanded globally, with exports to Spain, Canada, and the United States.
Lee Soo-jung, CEO of Cherry, stated, “We have been striving to lower the barriers to giving and build trust through technology and innovative ideas. Moving forward, we will continue to develop services that make it easier for more people to participate in a culture of giving.”
Cherry, based in Daegu, is a resident company of the Daegu Scale-Up Hub (DASH), contributing to the revitalization of the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. The company added, “We are growing into a globally competitive enterprise.”
