The Korean Red Cross (Secretary General Lee Sang-cheon) and E4Net (CEO Lee Sujeong) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the blockchain charity platform 'CHERRY' at the Red Cross Seoul Office (Jung-gu, Seoul) on the 13th (Wed) at 15:00.
With this business agreement, the Korean Red Cross will jointly develop a fundraising campaign with CHERRY, which has built Korea's first blockchain-based charity platform. With this business agreement as an opportunity, the Korean Red Cross has established a donation culture that more people can trust by securing more transparency and reliability in donations.
The blockchain charity platform is a system that transparently manages the entire donation process from fundraising, distribution, and spending, and donors can check the donation usage history at any time through CHERRY. CHERRY has increased the convenience and simplicity of donation based on a mobile app.
As the first campaign, the Korean Red Cross and CHERRY are planning to jointly develop a project to restore forest ecology in forest fire areas on the East Coast. It is scheduled to be held as a non-face-to-face walking event, and it is a campaign to plant a tree in Uljin with a donation of 10,000 won and is promoted as part of the ESG project.
Lee Sang-cheon, secretary-general of the Korean Red Cross, said, “As the 117th anniversary of the Red Cross prepares for the next 100 years, it is timely to increase reliability and transparency of donations through cooperation with blockchain charity platforms. I hope that it can be used well by the generation that prefers it.”
